We offer the following series of workshops, which are held on Saturdays from 1:45-3:15 pm. Please contact the Studio for more information or to register.
BREATHE! - The Pilates Way
Make your Pilates workout that much more successful through improving your breathing. Without breath awareness, instruction becomes nearly impossible to create a safe, engaged movement regime. Unless you breathe through the expanding ribcage you cannot engage the abdominals. This workshop will cover:
- A brief anatomy to understand Pilates breathing
- Why do Pilates breathing?
- Understand the benefits of using the Pilates breath
- Exercises to learn how to breathe the Pilates way

HANGING OUT WITH THE SHOULDER - Shoulder “911″
Isn’t it a wonder all the amazing things we can do with our hands and arms? We wouldn’t be where we are today without the amazing range of motion found in the upper limb. Spend some time increasing your awareness of how the shoulder enables you to enjoy your daily activities and how it can be hindered. This workshop will cover:
- Journey through the shoulder joint
- Basic shoulder mechanics
- A discussion of how and why various injuries occur
- Important exercises to do at home

PORTABLE PILATES - Home & Travel Workshop
The Home and Travel Workshop will allow you to have a complete body workout at home or on the road when you can’t get to your regular classes**. Now you will have no excuse to throw off your Pilates routine if you are on a business trip or vacation!

**Included in the cost of the workshop is our ‘Portable Pilates’ booklet which will give you details for a complete body workout along with stretches.
FROM THE GROUND UP - All about Your Feet
Footwork exercises are important for everyone. Our feet support the whole body, and weak or imbalanced muscles can pull the bones out of place! This workshop will cover:
- A brief anatomy of the foot
- Awareness of standing foot placement
- Exercise to help you maintain foot balance
- How to use the exercises daily

BACK TO BASICS - Posture, posture, posture
Increase your awareness of what is happening in your back and posture and learn how you can use your Pilates investment daily to transition to pain-free living! This workshop will cover:
- A brief anatomy of the spine
- Posture of the spine in seated, standing, and lying positions
- Functional awareness of the spine in daily activities
- A movement regime that you can use at home to stay pain-free

STANDING ON TWO LEGS - All about your Hips and Knees
The hip and knee are essential to move through the world. Pain is common in both the knee and hip, which infringes on ease of movement and enjoyment of life. Often problems in our backs can be due to weakness in the hips and legs. Understanding how to regain control and utilize strength in these important structures will improve all areas of your movement. This workshop will cover:
- A brief overview of special features of the knee and hip that may be contributing to your issues and discomfort
- Functional and postural awareness of hip and knee
- Exercises for home to reduce weakness or injury to the knee and hip
