Portable Pilates

Home & Travel Workshop

The Home and Travel Workshop will allow you to have a complete body workout at home or on the road when you can’t get to your regular classes. Now you will have no excuse to throw off your Pilates routine if you are on a business trip or vacation!

Included in the cost of the workshop is our ‘Portable Pilates’ booklet which will give you details for a complete body workout along with stretches.

Standing on Two Legs

A workshop dedicated to your Hips and Knees

The hip and knee are essential to move through the world.
Pain is common in both the knee and hip, which infringes on ease of movement and enjoyment of life. Often problems in our backs can be due to weakness in the hips and legs. Understanding how to regain control and utilize strength in these important structures will improve all areas of your movement.

Functional Balance and Mobility

Presented by: Flo Bongiovanni-Russell, Registered Kinesiologist

This workshop will provide you with a better understanding of Functional Balance & Mobility for older adults. Items to be covered include why older adults fall, internal and external risk factors, functional assessment tools, and practical progressions in exercise prescription. You will also explore through first hand experience how your client deals with their impairments and/or disorders. You will learn how and when to modify when necessary to add quality of life for your clients.

Body Logic

Presented by: Mari-Jose Blom

Discover Pilates as a vital and meaningful integration, bridging the gap between the therapeutic and conventional studio environment. The emphasis is on improving the instructional quality and the biomechanical understanding of the Pilates exercises using the Pilates equipment. This workshop aims to deepen the teaching skill of the practitioner to merge wellness and fitness into true vitality for the client/patient.

  • What You Will Learn:
  • Improving and deepening the teaching skill according to the biomechanics of movement control and Core Ability.
  • The understanding of a new model of human movement as the foundation of our teachings (according to Phillip Beach).
  • Expanding the repertoire with:
    • Variations and modifications suitable for therapeutic or clinical application.
    • Further using these variations to deepen the body of work.
  • Course Curriculum includes:
  • In-depth functional anatomy biomechanics: illustrated by 3D presentations and PowerPoint.
  • Practical applications of these learnings are applied in the analysis of the movement repertoire.
  • The course is taught in a noncompetitive supportive environment where each student will experience the work hands-on and will practice the teaching and cueing in one format.

As creator, Partner, & President of SmartSpine Works Company, Marie-Jose Blom has more than twenty years of master teacher training to help your back on track. Marie-Jose specializes in deep core strengthening, pelvic work, and work for the spine. She is widely known for her work in Conditioning Techniques for dance and dance injuries, and is the founder and director of Long Beach Dance Conditioning in Long Beach, CA, and Angel City Body Kinetics in Marina del Rey, CA.
